Prosthetics

Prosthetics encompasses every solution that restores damaged, worn or missing teeth - from a single veneer to full-arch rehabilitation. We combine precise diagnostics, premium materials and careful craftsmanship to deliver results that look, feel and function like natural teeth.

Whether you need to replace an old discoloured filling, protect a weakened tooth with a crown, or replace missing teeth with implants or dentures - prosthetic dentistry offers a solution for every situation. The goal is always the same: to restore comfortable function, natural appearance and long-term durability.

About the treatment

At Dental & Dermal, we work with leading dental laboratories and use modern materials including high-strength ceramics, zirconia and titanium. Every restoration is custom-made to match your tooth colour, shape and bite. We take the time to discuss options, explain trade-offs and help you make an informed decision.

Treatment planning begins with a thorough examination, digital X-rays and, when appropriate, digital impressions. We consider your oral health, your aesthetic goals and your budget before recommending the best approach. Complex cases may involve a phased treatment plan that addresses underlying issues - such as gum disease or root canal treatment - before the final restoration is placed.

How it works
  1. 01

    Consultation and planning

We examine your teeth, take X-rays and digital impressions, discuss your goals and present treatment options with clear cost estimates.

  2. 02

    Preparation

The tooth is carefully shaped to receive the restoration. A precise impression or digital scan is taken and sent to our dental laboratory. A temporary restoration is placed while the permanent one is fabricated.

  3. 03

    Laboratory fabrication

Your restoration is custom-made by skilled dental technicians using premium ceramic, zirconia or other materials matched to your natural tooth colour.

  4. 04

    Fitting and cementation

The finished restoration is tried in, checked for fit, colour and bite accuracy, then permanently bonded or cemented in place.

  5. 05

    Follow-up

A follow-up appointment ensures the restoration is comfortable and functioning well. We provide care instructions to maximise its longevity.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a crown or veneer last?

With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, porcelain crowns and veneers typically last 10–20 years. Some last significantly longer. Avoiding excessive force (such as grinding or biting hard objects) extends their lifespan.

Is the preparation painful?

No. The tooth is anaesthetised before any preparation begins. You may experience mild sensitivity after the anaesthetic wears off, but this is temporary.

What is the difference between a crown and a veneer?

A veneer is a thin shell bonded to the front surface of a tooth - ideal for cosmetic improvements to front teeth. A crown covers the entire tooth and provides structural reinforcement - necessary when a tooth is significantly damaged or weakened.

How long does implant treatment take?

From implant placement to final crown, the process typically takes three to six months. This allows time for the titanium implant to fuse with the jawbone (osseointegration). During this healing period, a temporary solution keeps your smile intact.

Can I get a temporary tooth while I wait?

Yes. We always provide a temporary restoration - whether a crown, bridge or denture - so you are never without a functional, presentable tooth during the fabrication period.
