Invisalign

Invisible braces use a series of custom-made, virtually transparent aligners to move your teeth gradually into their ideal position. No metal brackets, no wires - just a comfortable, discreet path to a straighter, healthier smile.

Crooked, crowded or misaligned teeth are more than a cosmetic concern. They create areas that are difficult to clean, increasing the risk of cavities and gum disease. A poor bite can lead to uneven wear, jaw pain and headaches. Orthodontic treatment addresses all of these issues while also improving the appearance of your smile.

About the treatment

At Dental & Dermal, we use Invisalign - the world's leading clear aligner system. Treatment begins with a digital scan of your teeth (no messy impressions), which is used to create a precise 3D treatment plan. You can see a simulation of your final result before treatment even begins.

Your custom aligners are fabricated from SmartTrack material - a medical-grade thermoplastic engineered for comfort, fit and predictable tooth movement. You wear each set of aligners for one to two weeks, then switch to the next set in the series. Each aligner makes small, controlled adjustments, gradually guiding your teeth into alignment.

Invisalign aligners are removable, so you can eat, brush and floss normally. Most people will not notice you are wearing them. Treatment duration varies from a few months for minor corrections to 12–18 months for more complex cases. Regular check-ups every six to eight weeks allow us to monitor progress and make adjustments as needed.

How it works
  1. 01

    Consultation and assessment

We examine your teeth, take X-rays and a digital scan, and discuss your goals. Based on this assessment, we determine whether Invisalign is the right solution for your case.

  2. 02

    Digital treatment plan

Your digital scan is used to create a precise 3D treatment plan showing the projected movement of your teeth from start to finish. You can see a simulation of your final result and we discuss the expected treatment duration.

  3. 03

    Aligner fabrication

Once you approve the plan, your custom aligners are fabricated. Small tooth-coloured attachments may be bonded to certain teeth to facilitate specific movements.

  4. 04

    Treatment phase

You wear each set of aligners for 20–22 hours per day, switching to the next set every one to two weeks. Check-ups every six to eight weeks allow us to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments.

  5. 05

    Retention

After treatment is complete, a retainer is fitted - either a thin bonded wire behind the teeth or a removable retainer worn at night - to maintain your new alignment permanently.

Frequently asked questions
Are invisible braces as effective as traditional braces?

For most cases - including crowding, spacing, and mild to moderate bite issues - Invisalign is equally effective. Very complex orthodontic cases may still require traditional fixed braces. Your dentist will advise you during the consultation.

Does Invisalign hurt?

You may feel mild pressure or tightness for the first day or two after switching to a new aligner. This is normal and subsides quickly. Most patients find Invisalign significantly more comfortable than traditional braces.

Can I eat normally during treatment?

Yes. Unlike fixed braces, Invisalign aligners are removable, so there are no dietary restrictions. Simply remove your aligners before eating and brush your teeth before reinserting them.

How long does treatment take?

Treatment duration depends on the complexity of your case. Minor corrections may take as little as three to six months. More complex cases typically require 12–18 months. Your dentist will provide a specific estimate after your digital scan.

Will I need a retainer afterwards?

Yes. Teeth have a natural tendency to shift back towards their original position. A retainer - either a thin bonded wire or a removable night retainer - is essential to maintain your results long-term.
